Cape San Blas…the Dog Friendliest Beach Ever!

We had such a good time over Labor Day weekend, so when the Moms told us we were going on Vacation for a whole week we squealed with delight!  We packed what seemed like everything we owned into the SUV and drove…and drove…and drove.  When we arrived to our destination it was almost dark….we had dinner…took a short walk…and went in our crates while the Moms unpacked the car and went out for food.  I thought, what kind of vacation is this? :0{

The next morning I woke mommy up at 5:30…I love mornings.  I thought she’ll get up, take me potty, give me a drink and then sit around drinking coffee…it is her vacation too.  Nope! I was so wrong. Wrong in the best way possible!  We went to the beach…it wasn’t even light out yet.  We played and ran and watched the sun come up.   We walked for what seemed like miles…we watched the horses stroll by.  We watched the birds play in the surf.  The beach was huge with powdery white sand with grassy dunes…Mommy said it reminded her of fresh Snow….no tracks or foot prints except ours…It was like our private Paradise for the week.  We occasionally saw a person or another dog…but mostly we had the place to ourselves.  The Sunrises and sunsets were amazing and the beach and Gulf looked pink at times.  Me and Jade took turns going out at sunrise…then later in the day we would go back to the beach to play in the surf, play frisbee or just go for a long walk.  We walked all the way the light house one day….boy did we sleep good that night.  In the afternoon the Moms would venture out to experience the sites around the area. They went to The Cape San Blas Bay Days…and on a couple of nature tours and an astronomy walk.  Another day they went to Apalachicola, went to see the Dead Lake and ventured to Panama City for some shopping. They even made a stop at the local Dog shelter to make a donation.  The nice ladies there even let me and Jade come in the Thrift store to go shopping.

If you and your humans are looking for a quiet beach town that is Dog friendly, Cape San Blas, Florida is the place.  There are many rentals to choose from that are Dog friendly. The Moms found our on Vacation Rentals by Owners.  We stayed at a Place called “Sandy Daze”.

Lesson of the Blog: Taking your dog on vacation gives you extra time to bond with your dog and maybe even work on some obedience or mild behavior issues in a fun relaxing setting.

Road Trip to Sarasota

Me and Jade Love to go in the car!  We love to go anywhere!  So for Labor Day the Moms took us to Sarasota for a long weekend.  We rented a house with a pool and a big yard that allowed us big dogs to come. Of course we brought our Crates to keep us safe and out of trouble the few times the Moms went out without us. But mostly it was all about us! Every morning we would wake the Moms nice and early, (5am-6am), as we didn’t want to miss anything.  We would all get in the car with a cooler full of  bottles of water, towels, extra collars and leashes and of course poop bags.  The first morning we went to the Street Market in Down Town.  It was very dog friendly and there were a lot of dogs of every shape and size.  There was food, crafts, plants and artisans.  There was even some musicians…I really liked the Folk singer and sat down at her feet to listen and watch her play the guitar. (Mom was upset she forgot her camera…but several others took my picture.)  We had lunch at a sidewalk cafe, then off to a local Dog Boutique to get some treats and a new toy.  The next day we went to Bird Key Causeway (Dog Beach) We got to go swimming. Jade Loves to swim! I prefer to wade.  We played in the surf, climbed the rocks and chewed on the Sea Sticks.  The Last day we went to Lido Key.  We had lunch at a little restaurant right in the water.  We got to play on the beach again but didn’t go swimming. We watched the boats and Lift bridge to LongBoat Key.  We enjoyed hanging out in the sunshine with the Moms.  In the afternoons we would all take a nap and  then the Moms would go out for dinner.  We spent the evening hanging out by the pool with the Moms and then we were ready to crash for the night. I love going on vacation!

Lesson of the Blog: When planning a vacation, you don’t always have to leave your dogs behind.  Check into private property rentals such as Vacation Rentals by Owners….you would be surprised how many Dog friendly rentals there are!
